From Pivot to Productivity: How Daylite is Redefining CRM for Small Businesses

Alykhan Jetha - Daylite.App

In an insightful conversation on The PowerTalk Show, Alykhan Jetha (AJ), Founder and CEO of Daylite, takes us through his entrepreneurial journey of persistence, pivots, and problem-solving.

Daylite wasn’t born out of a CRM vision. Instead, AJ and his team set out to create a platform that supported productivity first, CRM second. Originally designed for internal use, it evolved into a customer-centric platform when clients began asking to buy what they saw in action.

“We didn’t build a CRM. We built something that helps small businesses grow. It just happens to do CRM really well.”Alykhan Jetha, CEO of Daylite App

From Exchange Platform to Daylite: The Power of Iteration

AJ shared how Daylite is actually the fourth major pivot in his business. Initially conceptualized as an exchange platform, the journey involved refining products until they hit the right nerve with small businesses.

“Every entrepreneur faces the same problem — remembering to follow up, and knowing where you left off,” AJ explained, noting how Daylite helps businesses stay organized, follow up on time, and look professional.

Why Mac-Only? A Strategic Focus on the Apple Ecosystem

Daylite is a native app built specifically for macOS and iOS — a rarity in today’s sea of browser-based CRMs. AJ believes that small business owners often prefer Apple systems for their ease and reliability.

“If you’re a busy founder or a 5th employee in a startup, you can’t afford tech issues. That’s why we doubled down on Mac,” he added.

With powerful native integration, offline access, and a familiar interface, Daylite allows small teams to get work done even on a plane or at a client site with no internet.

CRM Meets Productivity — Not the Other Way Around

Unlike traditional CRMs that bolt productivity features onto a sales-first product, Daylite flips the model. It integrates calendar, task management, contacts, and email into your workflow — so the CRM becomes invisible and intuitive.

To aspiring tech entrepreneurs, AJ has this advice:

“You need that hustle. Always think about how you can do things better, offer more value, and stand out. That’s what makes business exciting.”
