The company announced a number of AI features under the name “Magic” at a Thursday event in Sydney that Canva anticipated livestreaming to a million remote viewers. These features include Magic Design, which enables users to create personalized design templates from an image or style, Magic Presentation, which can create slideshow-style presentations from a prompt, and Magic Write, a copywriting tool.
Users of Canva may also utilize its AI technologies to translate content into different languages and find specific locations in photographs where things can be added or removed with only a few clicks. Canva was started in 2012 by Perkins, her husband Cliff Obrecht, and Cameron Adams.
Over time, it transformed from a little-known Australian startup to a worldwide phenomenon, and in December 2019, Perkins was featured on the cover of Forbes.
