Roblox, the leading gaming company (RBLX.N), is gearing up to introduce its immersive digital world platform to Sony’s PlayStation devices this October, tapping into the vast audience of the world’s most beloved gaming consoles.

Furthermore, Roblox is set to offer its app on Meta’s (META.O) Quest mixed reality devices later this month, following a successful test release in July, which garnered over a million downloads within just five days, as disclosed in the company’s blog post.

This strategic expansion aligns with Roblox’s vision to make its platform accessible “across all devices and locations where users wish to engage with it,” as stated by Roblox Chief Product Officer Manuel Bronstein in an interview with Reuters in the lead-up to the company’s annual developer conference.

Bronstein expressed his aspirations, saying, “I wonder if we should be available on every TV.”

With a staggering 66 million daily users, predominantly teenagers, Roblox stands as one of the preferred gaming services for children. It has garnered close attention from tech giants like Meta, who aim to captivate the next generation of users.

In contrast, Meta’s analogous “metaverse” service, Horizon, which allows users to assume avatar personas and gather in virtual realms, has struggled to gain similar traction. According to a Wall Street Journal report from last year, Horizon boasted fewer than 200,000 monthly users.

While Horizon is currently exclusively accessible through virtual reality (VR), Meta disclosed plans in February to launch web and mobile versions in the near future, although an exact release date remains undisclosed.
