Named after a Nepalese soldier who fought for Britain since 1815, Gurkha offers share plates that combine authentic flavors and spices with quality British produce.
The restaurant is the brainchild of his Nepali-born Shrabaneswor Rai, who is also the director and co-founder of his Hot Stone in Islington and of Gurkha descent. In the kitchen is Chef Joe Allen, whose wife is Nepali and his father-in-law is Gurkha. Allen travels extensively through Kathmandu, Chitwan and Pokhara to soak up the culture, sample delicacies, try wild boar slaughter and bring his experience to every dish.
